The Sylacauga Community Playhouse Board of Directors is a group of seven elected members consisting of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Membership Chair, and two other members. They typically meet first Tuesday of each month to discuss and vote on productions, make financial decisions, problem-solve, help assemble production teams, ensure we abide by our bylaws, and more. The board follows Robert's Rules of Order at all meetings, and members are encouraged to attend monthly meetings to stay up-to-date with what's going on in the playhouse. Members are not permitted to speak at these meetings unless they submit a written request in advance to be placed on the meeting agenda. Each December, the board hosts an annual membership meeting for all members to vote on new board members. The board members each serve a 3-year term and officer positions are voted on within the board during the January meeting, establishing the new year.

Over her 43 years in community theatre, Sherry has brought heart, humor, and dedication to countless productions, both onstage and behind the scenes. Some of her favorite stage roles include Myra/Sister Sadie in A Bad Year for Tomatoes, Florence Unger in The Odd Couple (female version), M’Lynn Eatenton in Steel Magnolias, Martha Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace, Freda Grey in Too Soon for Daisies, and her musical debut as Grandma Addams in The Addams Family Musical. In addition to her work as an actress, Sherry has also served the Playhouse as a director and costume designer. Sherry currently serves as President of the SCP Board of Directors and is retired after 23 years as Director of the Maxye Veazey Senior Center. She remains actively involved in community projects and continues to champion the arts in Sylacauga. Sherry and her husband, Jackie, enjoy traveling and spending time with their family, including their children Brannon and his wife Kendra, and Brandi and her husband Seth. Her most cherished role is being Yaya to her five grandchildren — including two lively sets of twins.

Darby Wimmer, 25, has been part of the program for several years and has worked a variety of jobs across multiple productions. When not helping with shows, Darby loves painting, running a small business built around her artwork, and getting lost in a good book whenever she has downtime.

She graduated from University of South Alabama with her BSN in the summer of '09 and is currently an RN Case Manager at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She and her family are members of Sylacauga First Baptist Church. Abbie first became aware of the Sylacauga Community Playhouse when her oldest, Deanna, volunteered to help with makeup for Tarzan, Jr. The following summer, her son, Drew, was in the ensemble of Aladdin, Jr while Abbie and Deanna both worked as volunteers. In 2022, her youngest, Hadley, was a lioness in The Lion King, Jr and officially caught the acting bug! Since then, Abbie has volunteered wherever needed in the summer productions. She is excited to become more involved and see what SCP has planned for the future!

Christina was the child of a military family and spent her childhood moving from base to base. Dance and theater gave her ways of making friends and finding new opportunities no matter where her family moved. She was in every production her high school in Northern California did from her freshman year until she graduated. After high school, college, work and life took her away from the theater for many years. She was brought back to the theater by her oldest and youngest daughters who performed in many of the SCP summer productions. Unfortunately a busy mom life kept Christina off the stage. With two children off to college and one in high school, she had the time to return to the stage for the first time in over 30 years and made her debut in Little Town of Christmas in 2023. She was also the House manager for the summer production of Finding Nemo Jr. When not involved with SCP, Christina is the Administrative Assistant and Registrar at Cornerstone Christian School in Columbiana. She also enjoys spending time with her husband of 25 years, Roger, her girls and her extended family and friends.

But mostly, she enjoys spending time with her kids, family, and friends.
